Hi there! My name is Katie and I am a former classroom teacher, math interventionist, and coach. I am also mom to three amazing kids who keep my husband and me on our toes!
I began my professional career practicing law, but eventually left my legal career to pursue my longtime passion, elementary education. I received my Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington where I developed an insatiable passion for elementary math and reading/writing instruction. I went on to receive my endorsement in Reading Teacher Education and later participated in UW’s Math Inspire Teacher Leader Academy - leading my school’s professional development efforts around best practices in math instruction, K-8 math content knowledge, and pedagogy surrounding equity and empowering student voice.
When my husband and I started our family, I took a step back from my work in education to make more time for raising our kids. Tutoring elementary students (including my own kids now!) has been an incredibly rewarding way for me to continue to pursue my passion for teaching, while having enough time for soccer practices, school drop-offs, and the general craziness of raising three energetic munchkins!
I love connecting with kids and listening closely to their thinking. This allows me to tailor my support to meet my students exactly where they are and leverage their strengths to help them grow into confident, efficient, and passionate learners.
